CAFP Lends a Hand to Help Puerto Rico Physicians React to Disaster
On September 20, Puerto Rico experienced the disaster of Hurricane Maria. The storm flooded cities and destroyed buildings and power lines, causing an ongoing loss of power on the island for its 3.4 million inhabitants. New-to-California family physician Kim Yu, MD, FAAFP helped organize an effort to purchase generators for family physicians in Puerto Rico. Since the disaster, physicians in Puerto Rico AFP have been working incredibly hard to provide care to those affected. Your California Academy and the CAFP Foundation jointly purchased a generator to send to the island. Donate to this effort through the AAFP Foundation website or the Indiana AFP. Kudos to Dr. Yu for her amazing organizing.
